ILCMA Professional Development - Oct. 3 in LombardOn June 25th, 2019, Illinois became the 11th state to legalize the use of recreational marijuana. Now that recreational marijuana is legal, many municipalities are asking themselves what comes next? In collaboration with the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP), Clark Baird Smith LLP, and the Illinois Municipal League, a panel of subject matter experts will provide a wide array of information to assist municipalities with addressing public safety and human resources implications and concerns related to legalized recreational marijuana. In addition, a brief overview will be provided regarding the current status of State of Illinois recreational marijuana legislation and the possibility of a trailer bill for the Cannabis Act. This session will provide essential information about the impacts of recreational marijuana on municipal entities geared towards municipal staff involved in municipal management, public safety, and human resources.
