Indian Head Park, IL (Population 3,809) The Village of Indian Head Park is seeking a skilled full-time Police Chief with exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership and management experience in municipal law enforcement. This is an exciting professional opportunity. 

Indian Head Park is a predominantly residential community located at the intersection of I- 55 (Stevenson) and I-294 (Tri-State). The Indian Head Park Police Department has 8 sworn officers, 10 part-time officers and 1 civilian employee. The Police Department has a 2019 Adopted Budget of about $ 1.5 million dollars including salaries and benefits.  The Police Chief is appointed by Mayor and reports to the Village Administrator. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Mandatory qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in a closely related field and executive management certificates including the FBI National Academy, Northwestern University Center for Public Safety or other similar State and/or National programs. A Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement and Justice Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field is a plus. Candidates must also have at least 5 years’ experience in a municipal law enforcement management position equivalent to a Lieutenant or higher. Candidates must be a sworn officer in the state of Illinois. A pre-employment physical/drug screening/psychological screening may be required. 

SALARY, ETC.: Starting salary range: $80,000-$92,000. Candidates opting out of the Village’s medical insurance program will be offered compensation at the higher end of the range.   This position participates in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
