The Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP) aims to make police organizations better by evaluating policy and procedures against established criteria. Coupling the alignment of policy and written directives against best practices, is the process of having that criteria certified by an independent, authoritative body, the ILEAP Council. The establishment of meaningful and professional standards with an evaluation for compliance to those standards are the two fundamental components of an accreditation program. |
