Does your department have a social worker or MHP? 

The ILACP is gathering information about the work of social workers and mental health professionals in Illinois police departments. We hope to learn about the scope of their work, their collaboration with sworn officers, and their effectiveness. 

We are aware of some departments that have social workers and mental health professionals, but certainly not all. So if your department has such a professional, could you please let us know?

We intend to use the information by compiling the information and letting Illinois public officials and our communities know how these professionals are enhancing the work of police departments. Depending on what we learn, we expect there to be media releases and a Command magazine article about this work. 

“If at a minimum you would let us know whether you employ such professionals, that would be a great start,” said ILACP Executive Director Ed Wojcicki. “A decision to participate in the questionnaire would be separate from that, entirely voluntarily.”
