Across Illinois and throughout the nation, public safety agencies are facing unprecedented workforce and leadership transitions.

Accelerated retirements, staffing shortages, compressed experience levels, and fewer seasoned mentors have created an urgent need to develop leadership earlier than ever before.

The IPSLI Frontline Leadership Series is a first-of-its-kind, two-year leadership development program designed specifically for line-level police officers and firefighters who have not yet been formally promoted into supervisory or command positions, but who are already serving as informal leaders within their agencies. This program prepares those who influence culture, accountability, performance, and professionalism long before they receive a formal promotion.

Participants will strengthen critical leadership competencies including communication, decision-making, accountability, problem-solving, team leadership, and supervisory readiness while learning alongside peers from agencies across Illinois. The unique police-and-fire learning environment builds relationships, promotes collaboration, and creates a shared foundation of leadership that will strengthen public safety for years to come.

The inaugural session will be held in Rosemont, Illinois, November 2nd – 6th, 2026. Seating is limited.
