  1. Accreditation: The Lake County Sheriff's Department is proud to be the first sheriff's department going after ILEAP accreditation. Our accreditation program is picking up steam and getting more interest, and it's still very inexpensive compared to CALEA.

  2. Public Trust: Interesting that our president, James R. Kruger, Jr., wrote about public trust in his current Command magazine column, and so did the president of the International Association of Chiefs of Police President, Lou Dekmar, in his column in Police Chiefmagazine.

  3. It's shaping up as another busy legislative session, and our Legislative Committee meets Friday, January 19, at the Plainfield PD from 1:30-4. All association members are invited. Stay tuned.

  1. In the fall Veto Session of the Illinois General Assembly, we focused on SB 1451, which wireless carriers were pushing. This complicated bill regulates how "small cells" can be attached to poles to allow for faster 5G wireless speeds. We ended up neutral on this bill, because Craig Allen did a great job and spent many hours negotiating all of law enforcement's concerns. The bill passed both the House and the Senate. Allen chairs our Communications and Technology Committee.

  2. I recently went to Monmouth to present Chief Joe Switzer his certificate for achieving the status of being a Certified Police Chief. Photo here.

  3. Next week I'm attending the annual awards luncheon of the Illinois Security Professionals Association, where ILACP President Jim Kruger is being honored as the Law Enforcement Official of the Year Award. He was nominated by our Board of Officers.
