President's Greetings
from Chief Pat O'Connor, Moraine Valley Community College Police Department
On behalf of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, welcome to our Website. Most of you who come to this site are members and recognize the history of 70 years of leadership and cooperation that the Illinois Chiefs Association has fostered throughout the state of Illinois.
From its very humble beginnings, the ILACP has worked for ethical and professional development of law enforcement leadership within this state. Looking to the future, we know the difficulties all state associations are facing and we face these challenges with new enthusiasm. I feel each of us recognize the value we all gain from our cooperative efforts and the momentum our association has in developing new methods and meaningful initiatives. As you visit this website, you will begin to see subtle changes in both content and how and what we do. Reach out, and become active in committees and our legislative initiatives; you are the best spokesperson we have with your own state legislator. If you are a new member or considering joining the Chiefs, look through the Website and see the many opportunities there are to network and participate on our statewide initiatives.
At our recent winter conference I met many first time attendees and their spouses. I would expect you made many new contacts and friendships during that weekend, and I encourage you to build on those relationships. Regional relationships are important to all of us; but the broader relationships we make, bring new perspectives that allows us all to be better at our jobs. So welcome; we look forward to building the Association together …
